Greg Marsden is a recognised CE Inspector with the IMCI and a qualified NMMA Standards Specialist able support to OEM’s seeking assessment and certification for NZ Domestic built vessels, vessel imported into New Zealand, and vessels built for export to the EU and USA.
NZ Compliance Plate – Domestic and NZ Imported Vessels
Marsden Marine Services can provide independent vessel test and assessment services. Once test reports have been completed a New Zealand Compliance Plate (NZCP) can be affixed to the vessel. Vessels are assessed in accordance with the essential requirements of the the Australian Builders Plate (ABP). As RCD and NMMA specialists and in conjunction with our Naval Architects we are best placed to provide these services. Marsden Marine Services can also assess legacy vessels if no compliance plate is affixed.
CE Certification
The EU Recreational Craft Directive (RCD) are regulations aimed at promoting sustainable development across economic, social, and environmental domains. For watercraft and their components sold within the EU, compliance with harmonized technical safety and environmental requirements is mandatory, along with fulfilling the administrative obligations outlined by the RCD. A CE marking must be affixed to the product, while users must be furnished with detailed information regarding safety and maintenance.
CE Certification – Products covered by the RCD
The RCD covers recreational craft 2.5 – 24m, and includes Personal Watercraft (PWC’s), Marine components and marine engines. A product can only be CE-marked after its successful assessment by IMCI. In order to achieve this IMCI checks the relevant technical files, and physically inspects the vessel or components. The inspections are done by CE-Inspectors directly at the manufacturer’s facilities. The Inspector co-operates closely with the IMCI headquarters in Belgium which, after a positive assessment, issues the CE certificate.
