Greg Marsden

Following graduation from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst and the Royal School of Military Engineering, Greg completed a 17-year career as a British Army Engineering Officer.  During his military career Greg’s activity of choice was offshore powerboat racing, highlights being a double trophy winner in the UIM 2008 Round Britain Race, and successfully achieving the Round Ireland Circumnavigation Powerboat World Record in 2009 (which unfortunately has now been broken!).  

Following retirement from the military and a period of retraining Greg gained a Diploma in Small Ships Surveying from UK’s National Maritime Training Centre and has achieved marine surveyor recognition with both Maritime New Zealand (MNZ) and the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA). Greg has also achieved inspector status with the International Marine Certification Institute specialising in CE (European) and CA (UK) Vessel compliance in New Zealand. Greg works routinely with UK partners specialising in MCA Coding under the MCA MGN280 Code.

Greg is professionally accredited by the UK Engineering Council, the City and Guilds Institute, and is a member of both the Society of Consulting Engineers and Marine Surveyors, and a Commercially Certified Marine Surveyor through the Australasian Institute of Maritime Surveyors.

In 2021 Greg was appointed to the Board of the Australasian Institute of Marine Surveyors.

In 2022 Greg began advanced training with the UKs National Maritime Training Centre in Marine Accident Investigation.

Based at Seaview Marina, Wellington, Marsden Marine Ships Surveyors are able to provide surveying services throughout New Zealand, the Pacific Islands and worldwide.
